“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity”
― John Muir
Montana’s best pack trips
7 Lazy P has been in continuous operation from the same location since 1931, offering guests the opportunity to experience the 1.5 million acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex first hand. The 7 Lazy P Guest Ranch is the only pack station located directly on a gateway trailhead to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex.
WHY CHOOSE 7 LAZY P?

All-inlcusive trips-From your arrival to your departure, we take care of everything, including your stay with us the night before the trip… no need to book an extra hotel room.
Professional crew-We intentionally operate with great attention to detail from guest needs to how we camp and manage our stock. Our crew is competent, fun, and passionate about conducting top-notch trips.
Wholesome Food– You can expect fabulous meals packed with local products when possible. Our cooks make fresh, homemade meals, featuring our very own grass-fed beef. While all meals and snacks are included, guests can bring your own wine, beer, or liquor for an added evening refreshment. We are one of the few outfits that still packs a wood cook stove and oven to prepare meals on.

7 Lazy P Makes Preparations Easy
The night before your trip leaves, you will spend the night at the historic 7 Lazy P guest ranch. The only pack station located directly on a trailhead in the Bob Marshall Complex makes it an easy place to start your trip. Settle in, relax, and meet the stock. Your evening will include a homestyle meal in the lodge as you meet fellow guests and get to know the crew. Following dinner, delve into discussions about the final details of your trip. This is the time to ask last-minute questions before you retire to your cabin to finish preparing your gear and for a good night’s rest.
In the morning, the packers will be readying the stock and gear. After breakfast, you will meet your horse, be fitted to a saddle, the crew will finish packing and loading the mules and then, you’re on the trail to magnificent destinations!
Guiding You Into The Wilderness
Our exceptional string of mules carry all the gear for your trip and upon arrival, our crew will magically assemble a complete camp from piles of gear. At each camp, we take great care in making you comfortable in the wilderness. We take pride in every aspect of our operation and feel the details are what make a successful trip, whether caring for the guests, the stock or the equipment.
Backcountry Solitude And Fantastic Culinary Fare
On our trips you can expect delightful, western cuisine. Our cooks make fresh, homemade meals, featuring our very own grass-fed beef. While all meals and snacks are included, guests can bring your own wine, beer, or liquor for an added evening refreshment. You will have plenty of time for conversation and relaxing around an evening campfire. Most of the trip itineraries spend two nights in each camp so there is a layover day to enjoy fishing, hiking, or just reading a book and taking a nap.
