Bob Marshall Wilderness Fly Fishing Trips To Satisfy Your Reel Heart

7 Lazy P Outfitting offers the best of the best Bob Marshall Wilderness fly fishing trips. For the fly fishing enthusiast, 7 Lazy P Outfitting offers 4 trips on two great rivers.  The North Fork of the Sun River is a fantastic fishery. It is a beautiful river with nice pools and great fish density.  Both rainbows and cutthroats available. This quiet and scenic trip offers tremendous fishing without the crowds.

We also offer 2 trips into the Middle Fork of the Flathead, or Big River, as the old-timers referred to it.  The Middle Fork is part of the National Wild and Scenic River system. This is wild and remote country and although the fish densities are not as high as in the Sun River, you will never see anyone.  Native west slope cutthroats and mountain whitefish complete the picture of this true wilderness fly fishing adventure.

Who’s Bob?

Come and experience the amazing scenery and spectacular fishing that “The Bob” has to offer. The Bob Marshall Wilderness, once named by Orvis as one of the top five fisheries in the World, incorporates sections of the pristine Flathead River and Sun River. The Bob Marshall Wilderness is also home to a wide array of creatures, ranging from elk and deer to bears, wolves, and mountain goats. The great news for any angler is that the only thing more abundant than the wild animals are the fish. Both bull and westslope cutthroat trout can be found in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. In fact, it’s one of the only places where you can legally target bull trout.

Our Bob Marshall Wilderness fly fishing trips provide you with equal opportunity to catch both species. During our trips, you will catch bull trout that are commonly over 20” with larger ones exceeding 30”. Most westslope cutthroat trout are between 10-16” with a few making it over the 20” mark.

What’s In A Fly?

As far as flies go, if you are an avid fisherman, then you will likely have a list of flies, but here are just a few common flies to consider using during our Bob Marshall Wilderness fly fishing trips (barbless hooks are recommended):

  • Dry Flies: Royal Wulfe, Royal Coachmen, Crazy Goof’s, Elk Hair Caddis, Joe’s Hopper, Dave’s Hoppers, Pale Evening Dunn, Parachute Adams, Stimulators
  • Nymphs: Copper John, Prince Nymph
  • Streamers: Muddler Minnow, Woolly Bugger

7 Lazy P Helps You Hook

What makes our Bob Marshall Wilderness fly fishing trips truly memorable, is not the size of the fish, but the sheer numbers. One guest who joined us on his 70th birthday, caught 71 fish in just a single day on the North Fork. While the fishing is truly epic, we feel it only fair to mention that the scenery is also pretty darn good, too. Please, don’t take our word for it, come and see for yourself.
