Itinerary

Day
1

After breakfast everyone will head down to the corral area. While you get the final fit for your saddle, the packers will load the mules. After a thorough riding and safety demonstration you and your guide will begin your trip. We will ride up the Middle Fork of the Teton on our way to Route Creek Pass. After we ride over the 7,200’ pass, we will descend down into the headwaters of the North Fork of the Sun River. We will arrive at our camp for 2 nights on Wrangle Creek. Die hards should find enough time for a quick trip to the river for a few casts. Total: 13 miles and about 5 hours of riding time

Day
2

The river is only about ¾ of a mile from camp. If there are several fisherman, we will recommend some walk down and the crew can transport others on horseback to a river access a few miles down stream. For those not inclined to fish, there are some great hikes right out of camp, or you may join a short ride to drop fishermen.

Day
3

We pack up and move down river today to our next campsite at Sulphur Creek. This is a beautiful park right next to the River. Fishing can start soon after the gear is unloaded and camp is set. This is a beautiful stretch of water with excellent holes and great fish densities. Directly above this campsite, the landscape is large open hillsides covered with lush grass. It is a guest favorite to watch the horses and mules run up on to these hills when they get turned out to graze. Total: 11 river grade miles and about 4 hours of riding time

Day
4

Fish in both directions. Maybe relax, take a nap, and fish some more. Oh, and when the sun is high, it’s a great time to take a swim!

Day
5

We’re off again down river where we'll cross over and ride over a drainage divide to the South Fork of the Sun. We'll end up at our appropriately named campsite at Pretty Prairie. And yes, we are right close to the water. Total: 11 miles and 4 hours of riding time

Day
6

This is another layover day. The South Fork is a faster moving stretch of water, and will offer plenty of fishing opportunity in either direction. Other activities besides relaxing are some short hikes or a ride up the West Fork of the Sun.

Day
7

This is our moving day and we need everyone to be ready early to get on the trail. We'll make a relatively short 7 mile ride out to the Benchmark trailhead where we will be met by staff from the lodge. They will have another crew and guests who will go back to our Pretty Prairie camp and reverse the trip back to the lodge. We want to be out to the trailhead at around noon. It is about a 2 hour vehicle ride back to the 7 Lazy P guest ranch. Guests will depart the 7 Lazy P guest ranch midmorning the next day.
